The Bottom Line:

The Kalahari Waterpark Resort Convention Center is located right next door to Desert Star Cinema, with restaurants such as McDonald's and Subway all within a few blocks. Guests enjoyed the huge rooms that were equipped with Murphy beds and a Flat Panel TV. If requested, rooms can also accommodate a fireplace or even jacuzzi. A nice touch is the sturdy railings placed along the outdoor pools and hot tubs, making safety a plus. Kids and adults alike, also enjoyed the featured lazy river pool. Though lines can be long at check-in, guests were also complimentary of the fast service of the front desk staff.

“Great place to go”
December 19, 2011

Kalahari is a great place to help you escaping from the cold weather in winter, and it is not far from home. Four of us stayed there for four days last Thanksgiving break. It had so many things to do that we barely went out of the building. The water park opened until midnight. It was a little bit crowed in afternoon, especially the highest slide, and I waited for almost thirty minutes for that ride once. It was understandable though. If I went after eight at night, the crowed would be much lighter. When it was crowed, it was super noisy in the park that I sometimes had hard time hearing. There were some kids screaming and even chasing each others on the wet floor. I was glad that the staffs stopped them, since it was very dangerous. However, when there were not much people there, it was very neat in the water park. They did a great job cleaning and collecting dirty towels. Other problems I had was that I sometimes couldn’t find my parents after I got off the rides (I guess it wasn’t their fault). I highly suggest that if you bring many kids with you; keep your eyes on them all the time. Because the water park is huge, if you lost them, it would be very hard to find them. You probably don’t want to stay in the water for your whole stay. You can go to the indoor theme park. There were many attractions you can go, but most of them are tiny. Before I went there, I heard there is a ferries wheel, so I was excited about that. But when I got there, I realized the ferries wheel is quite small. I understand that it is inside, so they couldn’t build it very tall anyway. It was still a good choice for children. I loved the carts, but the track was quite short also. I felt little kids would enjoy more than parents in the theme park. If nothing works out for you, you can still spend your time at the movie theater without going out of the building. Last year when I went there, the theater was crowded too. I wasn’t sure why. The thing I love the most about Kalahari is the African atmosphere that they created in the resort and parks. You can always hear the soft jungle background music while you are walking in the lobby. Even though you wouldn’t enjoy any of the activities there, just spending some times in this environment would make you feel relax and comfortable.
