Most Recent Bed Bug Reports:
“I checked into the hotel on Monday night and halfway through the day on Tuesday, I noticed that my arm was itching. Then it was my neck. Later that night, red welts started to appear in a line down the inside of my arm, on my neck and chin and shoulder... all exposed areas that were touching my bed or pillow when I was sleeping (I usually sleep on my stomach). I reported this and was told by the manager that it didn't look like bed bugs but they moved me to another room, quarantined my stuff and heat treated all my luggage and clothing and everything.
The next day, I got a call saying that the results of the Orkin man inspection showed no "live activity" but that they found bed bug casings or skeletons in the room. I was assured that this was an isolated incident. Though obviously from reading other people's reports, this is not the case. If they have had reports as far back as February, I am not sure why they haven't just sent the exterminator through the entire place. Do they have to wait for someone to get bitten before they fumigate a room? That just seems irresponsible. Meanwhile guests in their hotel are suffering bites so they can save money not having to do pest control in the entire place.
Ugh. I have never been so miserable in my entire life and I have barely slept the whole time that I have been here. I feel this 'phantom itching' now all the time like there is something that is crawling on me. Even though I am in a different room now and haven't seen any new bites so far, and I know that it is all in my head. Oh, and they didn't even offer me any compensation until after the test results came back. As if I was lying about having bites, even though I showed them the bites and clearly I didn't have them when I arrived.
Today (Wednesday), they gave me 10,000 Starwood points and offered to send me to the doctor, a day later. Of course, by that time, I had already been to the pharmacy to get calamine lotion and antihistamine. Did they really have to wait for the test results to come back before asking what they could do to make me comfortable? They put me in a different room but I still spent all Tuesday night itching and tossing and turning. The Starwood points hardly seem worth it for not sleeping well all week, and having to suffer in misery with these bites. Who knows how long they will last? From what I have read it could be weeks.”

The Bottom Line:
The Westin Hotel Seattle is conveniently situated downtown, close to Pike Place Market, the State Convention Center and the Space Needle. While many guests commented on the extremely comfortable beds and spectacular room views, others found that cleanliness could be improved on, the rather small rooms needed updating and that amenities were lacking. Guests did appreciate the easy proximity to restaurants, shopping and nightlife, the indoor pool and 24-hour fitness facility, business center and free wireless Internet. The hotel features the on-site Coldwater Bar and Grill and a lobby bar.
