Seattle Vacations

Seattle is the premier city in the Pacific Northwest and the largest city in the state of Washington. Many visitors to Seattle begin their vacation by visiting the Space Needle. Built as part of the Century 21 Exposition of 1962, the Space Needle has become the most recognizable landmark in Seattle and provides spectacular views of the surrounding city. Just steps away from the Space Needle is another of the city’s most popular attractions, the Experience Music Project Museum. Established by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen in 2000, the museum houses numerous interactive exhibits as well as the Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame. Those looking for a more traditional art experience often head to the Seattle Art Museum. Opened in 1933, the museum has nearly 25,000 works of art in its permanent collection, including pieces by notable American sculptors such as Richard Serra and Alexander Calder. Those traveling with children will frequently spend an afternoon visiting the Woodland Park Zoo. Opened at the turn of the 20th century, the zoo is home to over a 1,000 animals from nearly 300 species. The Seattle Aquarium is also a popular choice for families. Dedicated to displaying animals native to the waters surrounding Seattle, its chief exhibits feature exotic animals such as the giant Pacific octopus, sea otters and wolf eels.
