I checked into the hotel on Monday night and halfway through the day on Tuesday, I noticed that my arm was itching. Then it was my neck. Later that night, red welts started to appear in a line down the inside of my arm, on my neck and chin and shoulder... all exposed areas that were touching my bed or pillow when I was sleeping (I usually sleep on my stomach). I reported this and was told by the manager that it didn't look like bed bugs but they moved me to another room, quarantined my stuff ...read full report

Woke up with tons of bed bug bites on my arm. I have never had bed bugs or seen anybody with bites so I thought maybe it was some type of weird rash. but once I got back home I realized they were bed bugs and i found bites all over my feet and ankles too, don't stay there. the hotel is not very nice. the front desk people were kind of rude, and the breakfast was horrible. all there was were waffles and bread and cereal. that was about it no real juice- only sunny delight. other than that choi...read full report
Stayed in the Days Inn, Seattle at SeaTac Airport 19015 International Blvd. Complained of running water noise in room and was moved to another room a few doors down (room #322). Was up late going over notes and listening to "guests" stomping upstairs, finally turned off the light at 2:00 a.m. and the "dinner bell" rang! Things immediately began crawling over my chest. I caught one and turned on the light, Motherfrickin BEDBUGS. Looked at the sheets and more were fleeing from the light. Wa...read full report

What does a bedbug look like?

How to check a hotel room for bed bugs?

There are 3 main areas of a hotel room you should inspect for bed bugs. It is a good idea to bring a small, bright flashlight with you to aid in your inspection.

  • The primary spot to find them is in and around the bed. Even unseen, they can leave tiny reddish or black streaks on sheets. Take off the bedding and inspect anywhere there are niches and crevices in the bed and headboard.
  • If possible, remove the headboard and check where it mounts from. Look at the baseboard and any other crevice a bed bug can hide in.
  • A favorite hiding place is the box-spring so lift the mattress and check the corners and seams. Remember, if you find one bedbug, beware, as there are probably many more. A female bed bug lays up to 500 hundreds eggs in its lifetime.
