Located in the northern region of Vietnam along the Red River, the city merges Chinese, French and Russian influences. The city boasts the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, which houses his preserved body. The mausoleum is granite and wood, and the grounds enclose a beautiful garden with a variety of Vietnamese plants. The One Pillar Pagoda is an iconic Buddhist temple, built in the 11th century and meant to resemble a lotus blossom. Visitors will be in awe of the temple, built from wood and resting on a single stone pillar four feet in diameter. Hoan Kiem Lake is the main hub of the city and provides endless outdoor entertainment for tourists, whether it is enjoying a sunrise or sunset. Tourists are entertained by the local puppet theatre, which stages shows with ornate lacquer puppets depicting Vietnamese history accompanied by traditional music. The Bao Tàng My Thuat is an art museum that has several paintings, sculptures, religious pieces and even an ancient bronze drum on display. Visitors will enjoy the modern architecture of the Ho Chi Minh Museum, designed to mimic the delicate bloom of a lotus flower.
