“I accompanied my cousin and her kids for a spring break vacation on April 2-5, 2012. A few days after I returned home I noticed itchy bites on my shoulders and arms. At first it was just a few then more appeared after a few days. We contacted the hotel to report the incident and I went to my doctor. The general manager contacted me later and she was very concerned and kind. She said they would have the room inspected and they also reported it to their insurance company. They did reimburse my cousin & I for the stay and also paid for a pest control inspection. She initially stated nothing was found in the room, however I spoke with their insurance company today and he confirmed they did find bed bugs. I'm still concerned if i brought any to my home. ”

The Bottom Line:
The Homewood Suites Virginia Beach is a distance from the beach, about twelve miles. It is, however, close to plenty of shopping including the Penbroke Town Center. The hotel has a small golf area as well as a pool and hot tub. Guests also appreciated the free breakfast and evening meal, although both are only served Monday through Thursday. The hotel also offers help with grocery shopping. Prior guests loved the suites, which are spacious with good amenities including full kitchens, 40" televisions and stove tops, although they do not have ovens. Reviewers do warn this is an extended stay hotel and housekeeping does not clean daily. Others warned that the hotel is off the main street and can be hard to find.
