Harrisonburg, in the Shenandoah Valley region of Virginia, is the home of James Madison University and named after an early settler to the area, Thomas Harrison. Sites in Harrisonburg included the Edith J. Carrier Arboretum on the the James Madison campus. Exhibits include the Betula uber, Round-Leaf Birch, an endangered species and 30 varieties of heirloom rose selections in the arboretum's Rose Garden. The Virginia Quilt Museum features historical and international quilts.
