With it's riveting past, and tales of early America, historic Arlington Virginia, located on the banks of the Potomac was one of the oldest colonies in the United States of America. One of the most visited and well known monuments is the Arlington National Cemetery. Established during the Civil War, and located on the site of the Confederate General Robert E. Lee's home, it is the second largest national cemetery and the burial ground of around 300,000 servicemen. It is here that veterans from every war including the American Revolution lay to rest, home to the Unknown Soldier Memorial, and it is where President John F. Kennedy and his wife are buried. Another great place to see when coming to Arlington, is the George Washington Memorial Parkway where the Potomac Heritage Trail is located, a ten mile trail that runs next to the Potomac River. There are plenty of bike trails in the city limits, and with a unique bike sharing system, there are bike rental stores all around town to help you get around whether it be to ride the trails or visit some of Arlington's must see monuments.
