San Angelo, Texas is a small city near Goodfellow Air Force Base, the largest employer in the area. San Angelo is the home to an eclectic variety of art galleries. The San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, founded in 1999, brings in over 85,000 visitors a year. San Angelo State Park covers 7,677 acres and features activities including camping, hiking and horseback riding. Fort Concho, founded in 1867 to protect the settlers in the area, is today an official National Historic Landmark and houses several museums.
