Dallas: Hotels with Indoor Pool
Although it is neither the capital nor the largest city in Texas, Dallas is widely viewed as the signature city of the state. Visitors to its sprawling metropolitan area will find a huge array of sites and attractions to fill their vacations. Many begin their trip by visiting the historic Sixth Floor Museum. Located in the building once known as the Texas School Book Depository, it marks the spot where Lee Harvey Oswald fired the shots that fatally wounded President John F. Kenney on November 22, 1963 in Dealey Plaza. Those looking for a less somber way to enjoy their stay are advised to visit Fair Park. Within its gigantic 277-acre footprint, travelers will find six performance centers, nine museums and the tallest Ferris wheel in the United States. Its most popular attractions are the Museum of Nature and Science and the Leonhardt Lagoon. Those traveling with children also enjoy stopping by the Dallas World Aquarium. Opened in 1992, the aquarium also houses a zoo. Both venues display rare animals such as three-toed sloths, vampire bats, sharks and manta rays. Those looking for a more cultural experience will enjoy touring the Dallas Museum of Art. Established in 1903, the museum holds over 24,000 objects in its permanent collection, including works by noted artists such as Gauguin, Cezanne and Vincent van Gogh.
