Memphis: Hotels with Indoor Pool
Memphis is the largest city in Tennessee and one of the cradles of American music. Accordingly, one of its most popular attractions is Graceland, once the home of rock legend Elvis Presley. Built in 1939, the mansion currently operates as a museum, displaying hundreds of pieces of memorabilia accumulated by Presley during his long reign as the king of rock and roll. Another popular destination for music lovers is the Stax Museum. Devoted to exhibiting the history of soul music in the United States, it is located in the original recording studio of Stax Records. Memphis also played a critical role in the nation’s civil rights struggle and this is memorialized in the National Civil Rights Museum. It is located in the Lorraine Hotel where the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated on April 4, 1968. The museum complex also includes the boarding house where the fatal shot was fired by James Earl Ray. Those interested in hearing live music frequently head down to Beale Street, which is packed with restaurants and nightclubs. Those traveling with children will enjoy visiting the Memphis Zoo, which was opened at the turn of the 20th century and is home to more than 3,500 animals including exotic species such as giant pandas, polar bears and zebras.
