Amsterdam: Romantic Hotels with Jacuzzi in Room
Located on the North Sea in northwestern Europe, the city of Amsterdam dates to the 13th century. Amsterdam is unique, with rings of canals forming the inner city center. Visitors can rent a bicycle and ride along the canals or take a boat tour around the city. Tourists will enjoy visiting the several museums that the city offers, including the Rijksmuseum that highlights the work of Rembrandt, Hals and Vermeer, and has traditional blue and white Delftware china on display. The Van Gogh Museum has the single largest collection of his works, including more than 200 paintings, 550 sketches and hundreds of his personal correspondence letters. For a moving experience, couples can visit the Anne Frank House, where her and her family lived in hiding from the Nazis during World War II. This is the hiding place where she penned her famous “The Diary of Anne Frank,” before the family met betrayal in 1944 and she met a premature death in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in Germany. The De Oude Kerk, a famous church built in the early 13th century now sits on the edge of Amsterdam’s Red Light District. The church, originally built on a graveyard, displays ancient granite gravestones and contains more than 10,000 burials sites. The Magere Brug, Amsterdam’s famous “skinny” bridge that crosses the Amstel River, lights up at night and is a beautiful focal point for an evening stroll.
