The Bottom Line:

The Planters Inn is widely regarded as one of Charleston, South Carolina’s most charming hotels. Built in 1844 and designated as a Relais and Chateaux hotel, it is perfectly situated in the heart of the city’s historic district. Guests rave about the luxurious old world décor of their rooms and praise the included amenities such as Dorothy Prentice bath products, thick bathrobes and slippers and feather pillows. While many hotels have restaurants, few are as praised as the hotel’s Peninsula Grill, which is considered to be one of the finest restaurants in Charleston. Those visiting the city on business have the option of booking any of the hotel’s four meeting spaces, the largest of which can accommodate as many as 100 guests.
