Lisbon is a city full of romance and history. One of the city’s oldest and most popular attractions is St. George's Castle. The oldest part of the castle dates back to the sixth century. The Romans, Visigoths and Moors all added to the castle during their reigning empires. Visitors are able to climb the towers and walk along the ramparts for some incredible views of Lisbon. Navigating the streets of the Alfama district is a joyful challenge. The narrow, medieval streets make a nearly impossible maze to crack. The scenery is simply majestic with decadent but charming old buildings, shops and the occasional panel of tiles. For an adventure, take a ride on Lisbon's old tramlines. Most of the cars are in their original 1901 state even with wood paneling. It’s not the most comfortable mode of transportation but certainly worth it for the scenery.
