Peru Travel & Tourism

Renowned for its beautiful assortment of mountainous, costal, desert and forested terrain, Peru offers adventurous tourists a never-ending source of natural excitement. Peru is punctuated by the Andes Mountains, making it a superb spot for adventurers interested in hiking, trekking and backpacking. Peru’s Cordillera Blanca is the highest mountain range aside from the Himalayas, featuring 22 summits higher than 6,000 meters, a snow-capped gateway to outdoor delights. The city of Huaraz borders the Cordillera Blanca, offering visitors a base camp for their mountain adventurers. The city of Cuzco is located high up in the Andes Mountains, and is renowned as the gateway to the ruins of Machu Picchu. These Incan ruins are notorious for their prime placement on top of the mountain cliffs. While nearly 2,500 people visit the site daily during its prime tourist season, Machu Picchu maintains its majestic mystique and beauty. Visitors who want to stretch their legs and learn about the Incan past can set out along the Inca Trail, which passes through towns, lush jungles and misty cloud forest to reach Machu Picchu. Lima is a city located in the spacious deserts of Peru, and while it is often overlooked by travelers it offers spectacular architectural discoveries. The city features a combination of colonial, Moor, modernist and pre-Columbian architecture all wrapped up in one prime location. Tingo María is located in the lush Amazon forest at the foothills of the Andes. It is a gateway to the Tingo María National Park, the Amazon, and numerous waterfalls and caves that surround the small city. In contrast to the lush forests of Tingo María, Huacachina is a small oasis located in a vast ladscape of sand dunes. The city is brimming with palm trees, blooming flowers and antique-style buildings. Once a resort town, Huacachina now attracts backpackers and younger, party-seeking crowds.
