Hood River is a small, agriculture town in Oregon that is considered one of the best sites in the world for windsurfing. Hood River is also a sports mecca for cyclists, hikers, kayak enthusiasts and skiers. The Gorge Games are held each summer in Hood River which include competitions in windsurfing, outrigger canoeing and rock climbing. The Mount Hood Cycling Classic takes place each summer in Hood River as well. Culturally, the Hood River County Historical Museum is dedicated to the history of Hood County, including Native American artifacts, and admission is free. Historic sites in Hood River include the Columbia Gorge Hotel, a Mission style hotel built in 1920, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
