Columbus: Hotels with Shuttle Service
The capital of Ohio, Columbus sits on the confluence of the Scioto and Olentangy rivers, creating a skyline worthy of a postcard. Proud of its long history with aviation and its importance in the Civil War, Columbus has been careful to preserve its heritage: it maintains a huge Ohio Historical Center; it runs Ohio Village, a 19th century replica village; it rebuilt in 2002 the turn-of-the-century arches that once powered its streetcar system; and it protects the architecture of its Greek Revival State Capitol and classic art-deco Judicial Center. Just north of the city is the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, which has been awarded numerous travel and animal rights awards for its design and treatment of its animals. Visitors in August should plan on visiting the Ohio State Fair, one of the largest and oldest state fairs in the United States.
