“I stayed 2 nights at the Traverse City, Michigan property. After the morning of my first night I noticed about 6 sites on my body with red, slightly swollen rounded and patchy areas, extremely itchy. Having alerted the desk clerk about 8 am (July 26th), he indicated he had had no previous reports of insect infestation. However he would alert the "cleaning crew." I requested at minimum that the bedding be changed. Not sure if this was done. After night two I noticed a few more bites on the underside of my arm. I suspect bedbugs. It was certainly an unpleasant experience largely ignored by management. Next trip to TC I will be finding other lodging. No compensation or apology was offered.
Just to be clear, I am not positive my problem was bed bugs. I saw no physical signs of bugs or bug droppings. What I did see and feel on arising in the morning after the first night there were several patchy red areas with rounded swollen centers typical of a insect bite on my body. Spiders? Fleas? Or something else? Maybe. All I know was that the stay left me with some itchy uncomfortable souvenirs.
I've just talked with the general manager of the hotel who informs me that he and the head of housekeeping did a thorough check of the room and bedding and found nothing. Yet apparently, the bugs found me.”
