The jellyfish and jaguar are on the must-see list for families. Akron is the hometown of rock legend Chrissy Hyde from The Pretenders, who owns a vegetarian-vegan restaurant in the downtown area. Hyde even makes an occasional appearance. Finally, Hower House is a great piece of local history. It is a four-story, historical home and one of the oldest residences in Akron. The last family member left the home in 1971. When the owner passed away, the University of Akron inherited the home. Local residents worked to raise money for its restoration and it is now open to the public.
