Lake Placid in upstate New York is probably best known as the site of the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics. The town is used by many tourists as a base camp to the surrounding winter activity spots in the Adirondacks. Nearby Whiteface Mountain has skiing, mountain biking and hiking facilities. The Whiteface Club and Resort golf facility is a 6,450 yards, par 72 course and was designed by the famed golf course designer John Van Kleek.
