Located in Brooklyn, New York, Hamilton US Army Base is a historical, yet still-functioning center for the Army National Guard and United States Army Reserve. The fort was first established in 1825 because of its strategic location for coastal defense during the War of 1812. The fort was named after the United State’s first Secretary of the Treasury, Alexander Hamilton, and served as the first National Guard training camp. Today, the base pays tribute to its historic roots by hosting the Harbor Defense Museum.
