“I stayed at the Chelsea this past weekend of Cinco de Mayo. I paid $440 total for 2 nights at the hotel. Travelers please beware!
This was my first trip anywhere in over 2 years and the first time that I have ever been to Atlantic City. After a great night in AC Friday night, I went back to the room to get some sleep. After 4 hours in the bed I woke up with red, streaky bumps ALL over my legs. I was wearing shorts. I have a very strong allergy to dust mites and have had problems with them at hotels in the past. I saw there was dust along basically all of the walls of the room, so I thought I was having an allergic reaction. I immediately showered and started my Saturday. By Saturday afternoon I was obviously exhausted and decided to take a nap. This time I was wearing jeans and a short sleeve shirt. After a 2 hour nap, I woke up with red, streaky bumps all over my neck and chest. Once again, I took a shower & tried to enjoy my weekend away. After an enjoyable dinner I decided to go back to my room and watch TV. I threw on my Capri sweats, a t-shirt and cuddled underneath the comforter for some rest and relaxation. After 45 mins my legs felt like they were on fire because they were so unbearably itchy. I was going to complain about it, but just figured that I would never stay at this hotel again as I was still thinking that it was a reaction to the dust. I took another shower, threw another set of jeans on, a sweat shirt and slept on top of the comforter, using one of the robes as my blanket and tried to get some sleep as I had a fairly long drive home the next day. When I got home, matters have only gotten worse. I have brought these creators home with me. As you can see from the pictures I am still getting eaten by these bugs! This is ridiculous! I am so itchy and now need to exterminate my home! Talk about an overpriced vacation! The hotel is currently closed during the week, so I must wait till this weekend to even contact them. ”

The Bottom Line:
The Chelsea is on the Atlantic City boardwalk next to the Tropicana. It is a fifteen minute walk from Caesar's and Bally's. The hotel has two parts, the main Tower and the Annex wing, a former Howard Johnson. Reviewers recommend rooms in the Tower, which are larger with nicer public areas. The Fifth Floor bar and restaurant was appreciated by guests, but some found it closed at odd times. Unfortunately, many prior guests arrived to dirty rooms, and a number found the rooms too small. Bathrooms have Kiehl's products and rooms have plasma televisions and minibars. Fluffy robes and pillow top mattresses were appreciated by guests. The restaurant, Tiplinksy's offers good food, but some prior guests found service there and in the hotel unfriendly.
