At the center of Montana’s Flathead Valley, the small city of Kalispell has grown into a historical hub and gateway to some of the natural beauties of the northern United States. There are several cultural landmarks within the city where tourists can get a deeper understanding of the history of the area, particularly the famous Conrad Mansion, a preserved pre-1900s estate which includes an inexpensive tour. Kalispell is the entryway to the beautiful Glacier National Park, and visitors can take a 52 mile driving tour through the park via the Going-to-the-Sun highway. The park also features hikes such as the Iceberg Lake Trail, which includes waterfalls, wildlife and a stunning look at the natural landscape. For art lovers, Kalispell has the Hockaday Museum of Art, a former Carnegie Library, which features free changing exhibits and galleries.
