Awoke in morning to rash from bite on my butt during night. Took picture to show manager who came immediately after i called with my concern. He offered to take me to hospital and comp my room. I thought it was a spider bite, but after reading about bedbugs I'm thinking the rash and bite sure looked like bedbug. read full report
I was extremely pleased with this hotel. The view was gorgeous and it all seemed so clean. However I am covered with bed bug bites. I woke up the 2nd morning I was there and had a few bites on my shoulder and thought perhaps they were mosquito bites. Now they are appearing all over my hands, arms and head. Yuck!!read full report

How to check a hotel room for bed bugs?

There are 3 main areas of a hotel room you should inspect for bed bugs. It is a good idea to bring a small, bright flashlight with you to aid in your inspection.

  • The primary spot to find them is in and around the bed. Even unseen, they can leave tiny reddish or black streaks on sheets. Take off the bedding and inspect anywhere there are niches and crevices in the bed and headboard.
  • If possible, remove the headboard and check where it mounts from. Look at the baseboard and any other crevice a bed bug can hide in.
  • A favorite hiding place is the box-spring so lift the mattress and check the corners and seams. Remember, if you find one bedbug, beware, as there are probably many more. A female bed bug lays up to 500 hundreds eggs in its lifetime.

Tell us about your bed bug encounter! Please include as much details of the incident as possible.
