The Bottom Line:
The Lafayette Hotel is on Lafayette square in the Warehouse District, next to a St. Charles line streetcar stop. It is an easy walk to the Superdome and to the French Quarter and across the street from HerbSaint. The hotel is a quirky older building which some guests described as 'shabby chic'. It is pet friendly, with the front desk even handing out dog biscuits. Rooms are large and decorated with country French antiques, and some rooms have balconies. Guests appreciated the large tubs and powerful showers. However, some reviewers complained about extra charges, such as a charge for the phone and the safe (which are mandatory) and spotty wireless internet. Service received positive reviews, especially the friendly and welcoming attitude of the staff.
