The second largest city in Kentucky might be known for it’s horse racing, but this city is packed with family activities as well. Lexington houses the Kentucky Horse Park, where visitors walk through a 12,000 acre horse farm. Besides petting around 50 breeds of horses, the park has two horse-based museums and two theaters. For non-horse fans, Whitaker Bank Ballpark offers families minor league baseball games. The Lexington Legends have been the home team here since its beginnings in 2001. Behind the third base line lies a small area dedicated to family fun, such as a bouncer, obstacle course and carousel that keep children entertained so the adults can watch a few plays. After a game, a tour of Old Kentucky Chocolates is a wonderful idea. The tour consists of three rooms where candy is made, samples are given, photos are taken and families get the pleasure of viewing their antique candy-making equipment.
