Venice: Romantic Hotels with Jacuzzi in Room
Located in northern Italy on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, hugging the saltwater lagoons of Golfo di Venezia, lays the ancient city of Venice. Considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Venice was founded in the fifth century. Visitors will enjoy the breathtaking architecture of the Basilica San Marco. While the site dates back to the ninth century, the current structure was built in the 11th century. This iconic landmark boasts five domes and affords incredible views of the city. The Ponte di Rialto, a stone bridge dating back to the 16th century, spans across the Grand Canal. Considered the heart of Venice, this area boasts several shops, cafes and is within short walking distance to Chiesa di San Giacomo di Rialto, the oldest church in the city that dates back more than 1,600 years. Couples will enjoy visiting the Calle della Ca’ d’Oro, a spectacular Gothic-style palace built in the 15th century. Known as the Golden House, this ornate structure houses the extensive Franchetti Gallery art collection, mosaics, Venetian Byzantine art, paintings, sculptures and affords fantastic views overlooking the Grand Canal. The Piazza San Marco is a popular gathering place for tourists and is below sea level, which causes the piazza to experience a rush of tidewater during certain times of the year. The piazza also houses the famed Torre dell’Orologio, a 15th century clock tower that chimes every hour.
