When not relaxing on Rimini’s 15 kilometers of pristine coastline, vacationers enjoy visiting the numerous museums, ruins and family destinations that fill the city. A top choice for many who are traveling with children is the theme park, Italy in Miniature. Opened in 1970, the park includes rides, games and food stalls, but its most significant attraction is the more than 50 detailed miniatures of famous sites such as the Colosseum, Saint Peter’s Basilica and Venice. Another popular destination is the Delfinario Rimini, which houses dozens of trained dolphins that perform shows daily. The Definario Rimini also features several exhibits that teach visitors more about the ocean’s most fascinating creatures. Those interested in learning more about the history of the area often visit the Tempio Malatestiano. Built in the thirteenth century and often referred to simply as the San Frencesco, it is the oldest cathedral in the city. The San Guiliano Martire church is also a popular stop for visitors. Completed towards the latter end of the sixteenth century, it is best known for the towering portrait of Paul Veronese that adorns one of its walls.
