New Delhi: Hotels with Balcony
As the capital of India, New Delhi offers visitors a spectacular array of historic sites to visit while on vacation. Easily the most extraordinary is the Baha’i House of Worship, traditionally referred to simply as the Lotus Temple. Open to worshippers of all faiths, this architecturally significant building welcomes as many as 150,000 people a day and is one of the most visited buildings in the world. New Delhi is also home to the India Gate, the national monument of the country. Reminiscent of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, it was erected in 1931 and is dedicated to the Indians who lost their life during World War I. The India Gate is also the site of the Amar Jawan Jyoti, the country’s Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. One of India’s most photographed landmarks is the Qutub Minar. Built at the close of the 12th century, it is the largest brick minaret in the world, soaring to a height of almost 250 feet. Within the Qutub complex are several other attractions such as the Iron Pillar and the Quwwat ul-Islam Mosque. Those interested in exploring India’s artistic legacy often travel to the National Museum. The museum houses over 200,000 works of art in its permanent collection, spanning over 5,000 years of human civilization.
