“Pleasant stay”
April 29, 2013

This hotel fulfilled its purpose - kitchenette, laundry facilities, gym. The personnel was pleasant and very helpful. Free wifi was fast. Quick access to I-95 which took us to where we wanted to go. The walking path was nice with shaded trees. Walking distance to Wendy´s and Walmart which takes about 20 min. The pool was cleaned on a daily basis. Free coffee, muffins, fruit, granola bars in the lobby during breakfast. Overall, this is an affordable hotel.

“NOT SAFE”
April 21, 2013

Here I am new in town and I figure this is a great, convenient location so how bad could it be? Let me tell you I stayed at the property for 3 weeks while in search of a permanent living situation, and as a single female my highest priority is safety. On March 28, 2013 about a dozen local law enforcement persons visited the hotel in search of a fugitive, some dressed in hostage gear. I thought this was an isolated incident. Not so fast! On Friday, April 12th, I discovered a bag in a bush behind my car in the parking lot of this hotel. In the bag were THREE automatic weapons, MARIJUANA, A BLACK SKI MASK and CASH! Law Enforcement are currently investigating. When I made an attempt to discuss the criminal activity with the GM he asked me to check out of the hotel and stated this was not the hotel for me due to my numerous security concerns and questions. I was refunded 2 weeks of my stay. Please take a look at this valuable article from 2012 when making a decision to stay at this property, and you may contact the Gwinnett police department to confirm this information. http://peachtreecorners.patch.com/articles/gwinnett-pd-duluth-woman-killed-during-double-shooting-at-hotel Oh and by the way: My toilet flooded the entire bathroom twice. The wifi works at the most 4 hours within a 24 hour day. TV programming disappears and reappears regardless of weather. The GM is UNPROFESSIONAL and treats his staff like dirt. The housekeepers are quite proficient and pleasant. Walls are paper thin. The 3rd floor is for "long term" guest, which ranges anywhere from 6 months-6 years I found.

“Total Crap!!!!!!!”
April 8, 2013

Nightmare!!! Never stay here!! We were desperate to find a place to sleep. All of the hotels were packed from Chattanooga to Nashville @ 12:30 AM. We were driving in from Florida. I went on line and called many. I found the Cheap hotels site and spoke to them 3 different times. The found the Vista Inn. They said it had a good rating and gave me the phone # after several others they gave me had no vacancies. "Cheap Hotels" what a joke $89 plus additional $10 for the miniature poodle-they gave me a $5 discount! I shouldn't have told them I had a dog! We reserved the "only room" by credit card. We drove 1 1/2 hours out of our way to get there only to find they gave our room away!! We waited 1/2 hour and they found "another room" for us. The hotel was under renovation. We were sent to that area. They put in a shower curtain in towels in this room. It had a new fake wood floor that was dirty, the beds were made-how I HATE bed spreads! Never know if they were washed! The blankets and linens were well worn, the headboards were chipped and had paint splashes, the chairs were old and worn, the bathroom tile was unfinished, the tub was stained and chipped, the tile was unfinished and there was blue painters take on the door knob and walls. We were so tired, it was 2:30 AM we just went to sleep. In the morning we were awoken by construction workers pounding on the floor below. I took a very fast shower not bothering to wash my hair, I opened the curtain and watched a huge brown COCKROACH run across the floor!! I went to the clerk and the front desk and reamed him!! I told him I had full intention of writing a terrible review. They took advantage of people that needed a room and had no choice in the matter. He stated the company would probably call because our room was changed. I am sure I will hold my breath waiting for THAT call!! I am going to call them believe me!! We spoke to one of the locals @ breakfast and she told us that the hotel had a terrible reputation!! They were just cosmetically covering up the mess in that hotel! Do not stay in this hotel!!! Drive on!! If we weren't so tired we would have tried to go further to Paducah, Kentucky...the hotels are less money and beautiful. We are so sorry we didn't...

“Historic Hotel in the Heart of Portland”
April 4, 2013

The Governor Hotel has been a icon in Portland for more than a century. It boasts old world charm and class. The interior of the hotel is beautiful, with marble tile floors, dark mahogany wood trim, painted murals, and brass fixtures. The murals in the dining room depict scenes of the famous Lewis and Clark expedition. The whole hotel has a romantic turn of the century ambiance. The restaurant is very good. It is widely regarded as one of the best restaurants in Portland. The menu is varied and not too expensive. It will be crowded most weekend nights. Rooms in the Governor are not small, as that was the style back when it was built. They are very nicely decorated and upgraded. The suite we stayed in was gorgeous with a fireplace. The staff is very polite and accommodating. Another nice thing about the Governor is that is is in the center of the city right on the trolley line. So, you have easy access to anywhere in Portland. The two down sides: It is on the more pricey side for Portland and it fills up very fast. I highly recommend it if you are planning a visit. It is a Portland experience.

“Very affordable hotel with modern, upscale features and service.”
April 3, 2013

Could not believe how cheap this hotel was. I walked in to a computer where you could just swipe your credit card and punch a few buttons to check in - instantly impressed. The lobby, snack bar, and breakfast lounge were very nice and modern. The same could be said for the room, which was spacious with a comfortable bed. The room had a generous seating area with a lamp-lit desk. The pool was nothing special, but it was clean and served its purpose. I did not get a chance to try the breakfast, but the serving area looked like it could handle a good variety of food options. If only other Hyatt hotels were this affordable.

“Wonderful experience, and more affordable than other downtown hotel...”
April 3, 2013

Stayed here for St. Patrick's day parade. Free parking in spacious garage was appreciated. Pleasant 10-minute walk to Five Points. Beautiful hotel with a mix of historical and modern touches. My room was very nice, with lots of space and a very comfortable king-size bed. My room was a standard king, but still had the bedroom separated from the living area by a door, which I liked. The standard sofa sleeper was a nice feature, and easy to setup. The bathroom had not one, but two showers - each a different kind. Random, but a nice touch. Elevators were conveniently placed and efficient. The ONLY thing that disappointed me was the breakfast - compared to the rest of my experience here, it was just mediocre. Unless you know you are going to be in a hurry in the morning, eat somewhere else. Would definitely stay here again.

“Disappointed”
April 3, 2013

Not bad, but not worthy of the Four Points by Sheraton name. Although I booked this room for a 20% discount, I would have been VERY upset had I paid full price. First, the positives: Great location next to Universal. Good convenient breakfast buffet. Tiki bar - a rarity - that opens at 11 AM - even rarer. Now, the negatives: Entire hotel is outdated and needs significant renovations. Room was clean, but had an aged look and feel to it. The bed was mediocre, and one side was falling out of the frame. The coffee maker leaked out the side. Check-in was understaffed and took much longer than necessary. Parking was sparse and not convenient to elevator access. Wireless access was annoying and slow unless you paid extra for faster service; this seemed like a rather petty way of increasing profits for a basic amenity like high-speed internet. As you might have noticed, these are all minor problems by themselves, but when you have to deal with all of them at one hotel, it is hard to walk away happy, even with a discount. 10/10 for the tiki bar, 3/10 for everything else.

“BED BUGS!”
March 28, 2013

I woke up covered in bites. I went to the front desk and asked for a manager she in turn sent out the GM. He said it might be an allergic reaction to the sheets. I'm showing him the bites. He said he'd have the room checked and call me. He did follow through and said it was indeed bedbugs. He apologized refunded my money and offered me 2 nights if I wanted to return. He said the Hotel was renovated in 2012 and this is the second case of bed bugs since the renovation. SECOND CASE! Logically I understand it's a hard thing to control. Emotionally, I'm distraught. I'm bitten up all over and my skin is crawling!

“Good hotel, some drawbacks”
March 23, 2013

The Courtyard by Marriott in Downtown Tulsa is located in the historic Atlas Insurance building, which dates to 1922. The building itself, including the ground floor lobby, has the look of the Roaring ‘20s and is quite charming, particularly for those who appreciate architecture and/or history. The hotel itself has been recently redone in a contemporary style. The lobby, which is on the second floor, is small but up to date with a modest reception area, a pantry where guests can buy snacks, a restaurant and lounge, a sitting area, and computer workstations. Guest rooms feature high ceilings; new, up-to-date furnishings in a contemporary style; and most of the amenities today’s travelers expect including in-room coffee, flat-screen TV, hairdryer, and iron and ironing board, and complimentary Internet access. It’s also convenient to several restaurants and bars, including the New Atlas Grill on the ground floor lobby (which has better and more reasonably priced breakfasts than the hotel restaurant), a Daily Grill two blocks away, and several restaurants in the Blue Dome district about five blocks away. There were some drawbacks worth mentioning. Guest rooms do not have in-room safes, which meant schlepping the laptop everywhere I went instead of locking it safely away. The bathroom did not offer a bathtub. It only offered a shower, which may not be a major issue depending on your habits and what you’re seeking in a hotel. Most notably, however, the bathroom at the Courtyard had the thinnest towels I’ve used in a long time. It took two towels for me to get completely dry after every shower. Valet parking is available but – and I’m sure this is rare – the attendants lost the keys to our rental vehicle. Not once, but twice. Street parking is available near the hotel, though there is a two-hour limit between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. For a hotel convenient to downtown Tulsa and easy on the wallet or expense account, the Courtyard Downtown gets a thumbs-up from me. Just park your own car and ask for extra towels. For more, see my travel blog at www.TravelPro.us

“DO NOT RECOMMEND”
March 20, 2013

Stayed here for a bowling convention. Was told that corporate office closed a lot of the rooms in order to get their percentages higher. We were to have our meeting there and they cancelled the room we were to have it in so had to scurry around town to find another place to have it. The lounge was closed the whole time we were there so it was not accessible. We had three people in our room so they gave us a room with a king size bed and a couch that folded out into a bed. So one person had to sleep on the couch bed when they had several rooms empty that corporate would not let them use. The staff working had no control over the situation, they were caught in the middle. Pet friendly hotel which is great but room we stayed in had a strong cat smell and I am allergic to cats. If that is the way Corporate office is going to run the establishment in order to get their stats looking better and have no concern for their guests - you can rest assured many of us will not be staying there again. We are going back next month for a bowling tournament and thank goodness we are not at this Hotel!!! I do not recommend this place at all. They are not concerned about their guest comfort.

Never again
January 17, 2013

I stayed at Hotel Astor in July of 2012. It was so disappointing, the pictures made the rooms look spacious and relaxing and luxurious. when that was not the case at all. DISGUSTING. the carpets were not vacuumed once when i was there for 4 nights. They're was a plastic smashed cup in our hallway the entire week. The bedrooms were bland and boring. I HATED being in our room. HATED it. It said online 4 star, I would never give this place a 4 star ever. Room service was terrible, i honestly don't even know if they had room service. we had to walk down to the front desk each time to ask for towels. at one point they're was no one even at the front desk... HELLO!!!? Terrible hotel and terrible service.

January 17, 2013

I've been staying here for years. Love the front desk people. Wait until after Noon or evening to call for reservations....Always a discount for return guests. Ask for extra amenities, and they're quickly delivered. Small bar, but great bartenders. Pool is huge so you're not crowded. A shop in the lobby, restaurant, easy parking and only 1/2 block from the Main Gate. Fantastic exotic landscaping. Ice machines that work, always hot water. It's not the RItz, but neither is the pricing. Once, after checking our, realized our expensive sunglasses were left in the room. Came back to the hotel that afternoon to find them in a plastic bag waiting for us. A great place to stay.

“I'd stay here again!”
January 9, 2013

I stayed here for a conference in town, and really enjoyed it. Room was comfy, food was good (I LOVED Drago's Restaurant), and the staff was extremely friendly. Locationwise, for my purposes it would have been nice to be right in the French Quarter, but I knew that when I booked the room and it is within pretty easy walking distance. It was nice to look out over the Mississippi, and the streetcar comes right out front (and goes to the French Quarter, which was handy after my ill-fitting shoes gave me blisters).

January 8, 2013

I pulled the car up to the main building and was greeted by staff that unloaded my car while I Checked in. I was so pleased with this service. I checked in at the front desk with Robyn, which happened to be the girl I made our reservation with over the phone. She was pleasant and full of information. Being I was away with 6 kids and and only one of them being mine with my Co leader on a Girl Scout weekend I had many questions. Robyn was extremely patient with me and a pleasure dealing with. We received our keys to the room as well as a weekend activity sheet outlining all activities and times. What a sigh of relief to know that my whole weekend had been organized and planned. We headed to our room. Our rooms were suites, 2 joining rooms. They included 2 queen beds and a bunk bed with a full bath room and a makeup/sink area in each room, This was convenient especially when you are sharing a room with a bunch of people. The rooms came equipped with a refrigerator, Iron, blow dryer, Cable TV, and Free Wifi. The rooms were clean and smelled fresh. I loved the Ranch themed motif.

January 8, 2013

Before going I called and spoke to the manager . I explained that we were on a 40 day Road trip and I was hoping for a better price then posted on the web. After many conversations she was able to extend a great price for our 3 day stay. We planned the stay 4 months in advance. Upon arrival I was greeted at the desk with a smile and tons of local information. To my surprise there were 4 water park passes included in our room which was much appreciated. Marriott really knows how to open the red carpet for their guests. The Hotel was super clean and the staff was super friendly! We stayed in the suite and loved the room. The suite slept a family of 6. The gaming system was nice for the kids to play with while we were planning our next stop. I was so impressed with the speaker system in the room. It was surround sound and was in each area. The Plush Bedding featuring crisp linens, fluffier pillows, thicker pillowtop mattresses. The rooms smelled fresh and really made us feel right at home. We slept like babies All the amenities made us feel like royalty.

“Robbed by the Hotel Staff”
January 7, 2013

I was traveling to Mexico with a group of 5 friends to visit the ancient Mayan pyramids in Tulum for December 21st 2012. Once we were done with all the ceremonies and get togethers, we had to look up a hotel in a rush because we had forgotten to get a room previously. We stopped at a internet cafe in Tulum and made the reservation online, which required you to supply a card number to reserve the room. Once I got there the staff was sort of rude (Saturday night 11 pm) but since I'm fluent in Spanish things went a little bit better. I had to wait for them to confirm my reservation on the phone, in which they said that I had to make my payment in cash because the card was only to save my room. I was strung out on 3 days no sleep with my friends and my attention span was off (my fault). I asked staff for a receipt and they handed me my reservation papers back and told me they were as good as the receipt. Upon arrival, I noticed the Air Conditioner didn't work, our door wouldn't close (had to sleep with an open room), the jacuzzi tubs were unfunctional, no hot water, bad room service, close to no towels, and the water gushed out of the tub whenever you tried to take a shower. The beds were terribly stiff as well, it was nothing short of an awful night. After leaving the hotel, we proceeded to go to the airport, when I try to use my card to buy a coffee, it gets declined. I had to make a pricy international call to my bank to find out that Hotel Maya Turquesa had also charged my card that night through the booking agency, coming to a price of a wooping 370 dollars for a hostel style hotel for 6 in middle of Playa del Carmen. The booking agency has been good enough to me to help me solve the situation but the hotel staff keeps reassuring I never paid cash, when I actually have a group of 6 people seeing me pay cash at the counter as well as 2 hotel staff members that were probably laughing behind that "good service" smile. I now have an overdraft in my account and no money to get through the month. Please stay away from this hotel at all costs. There are cheaper and better places around playa del carmen or cancun/tulum. The other 3 hotel experiences I had in Mexico were beyond amazing compared to this, so I'm guessing it was just the wrong night at the wrong place, with the wrong dishonest staff. I accept my loss, I would just absolutely hate for anyone to become a victim as I did. Please be safe and keep 100 eyes open when you travel out of the country. Safe Travels.

Checked in hotel for four nights. Turn on tv and it was real snowy. Walked to get some supper. On way back in hotel went in lobby to report tv. They said they would send maintenance right up. We went straight up also and when we open the door the maintenance man was in my purse with money in his pocket. He said he found the money on the floor and denied everything. My purse was sitting there wide open. They gave us a refund and we left it in the manager's hands. We would like to know if this man is still there or what the manager did to handle this situation. “The Ads are better than the property”
November 21, 2012

This is a tough review to write. Yes this is a beautiful place and the people working there are nice but I was pretty disappointed with my stay at Bacara. Yes it is a nice property with all the amenities that one would expect - but it is not a luxury 5 star resort by any means. It felt more like an all - inclusive resort rather than the high cost high expectation resort that they promote. It may sound picky but that was our feeling. A few things that we experienced here that one would not expect from a high-end resort. - The hallways were used as storage areas. Throughout the resort there were hide a beds, chairs, tables and other things stacked or seemingly just left laying around. Really tacky!! It felt like a college dorm hallway. - My wife and I rented a pool cabana for the day to find that the curtains all had broken zippers. Rather than offer to move us the attendant tried to close the sides and back with tape. Again very tacky. - Dinner at "The Bistro" was almost comical. We kept looking for Gordon Ramsey to appear, as this was one sad experience. We waited an hour to be served and when the food arrived it was clear that it had been micro waved and awful. Neither of us ate a bite - it was disgusting. - The room was ok besides the shoddy veneer pulling apart at the door. - The mini bar was never restocked. None of these is a deal breaker and Im always inclined to give someone a break as any restaurant / hotel can have a bad night etc. But put them all together and it speaks to pretty bad management. Again the setting is pretty spectacular. But the delivery was spotty at best. I would consider staying there again but not at the prices they charge. If I were paying half of what I paid I would give it 5 stars. But paying top dollar you expect the best experience hence the two stars.

“Worst experience ever”
November 12, 2012

At the risk of ranting, let me keep this sort and sweet..there are indeed roaches in the sleeping rooms, the toilet stopped up and 30 minutes after calling the front desk - no one called or came to fix and yet another call to the front desk when we were told that maintenance was off property and the guy on the phone couldn't leave the front desk - so my husband went to the front desk to get the plunger so that we didn't have the toilet overflow, anything metal in the room is pitted with rust, the bathroom has black mold by the tub where the water pools outside of the tub, the shower curtain was ripped the day we arrived and not replaced when housekeeping cleaned the room, you have to wait at the front desk for help and as noted by another reviewer - there is no "bell" to call someone. Upon check out I was asked about my stay and though I shared my complete dissatisfaction with the property and the multiple issues we encountered - other than an apology, nothing else was done to make up for the horrible experience.

November 8, 2012

We took a family trip to the Space Center and stayed here. First, the hotel is very nice and it is centrally located. Second, the room was very clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the hotel was decently quiet. The free cooked to order breakfast was a very nice feature and its value should not be underestimated when factoring in costs. My family of five would easily spend $40 for eggs and bacon at a chain restaurant, and with the reasonable hotel rates it was even more affordable with hot breakfast included. Also, I am in a wheelchair and this hotel was easy for me to navigate and the room was spacious enough to accommodate my wheelchair.
