“A fantastic deal in downtown Dublin”
February 10, 2012

This is a truly special hotel.  It has a lot of character, and a very friendly staff, for an amazingly low price.  They also include breakfast, and the wifi is free (though it doesn't reach the rooms, you have to walk to the common area). The rooms aren't fantastic - they're noisy, and in my case had a severly outdated and malfunctioning television - but they're clean and cozy.  It wouldn't make a particularly strong business hotel if you're looking for in-room internet access, nor would it make a great romantic destination if you're looking to impress, but for any other trip I'd highly recommend it.  A fantastic value in downtown Dublin.

“Amazing Place”
December 28, 2011

I think that the people that have rated this resort are actually thinking about the Mountain Creek Inn, this resort is not dated or dirty like they had mentioned. It's an amazing place to stay. I've been down a few times and it has always been perfect! I was able to enjoy the spa while I was down here as well and I'll be returning for that experience again as well. We just relaxed at the resort and gardens the whole time and it was fantastic. I've done this with my family and as a romantic getaway.

Kalahari Waterpark Resort Convention Center

1305 Kalahari Drive, Wisconsin Dells, 53965 WI
December 19, 2011

Kalahari is a great place to help you escaping from the cold weather in winter, and it is not far from home. Four of us stayed there for four days last Thanksgiving break. It had so many things to do that we barely went out of the building. The water park opened until midnight. It was a little bit crowed in afternoon, especially the highest slide, and I waited for almost thirty minutes for that ride once. It was understandable though. If I went after eight at night, the crowed would be much lighter. When it was crowed, it was super noisy in the park that I sometimes had hard time hearing. There were some kids screaming and even chasing each others on the wet floor. I was glad that the staffs stopped them, since it was very dangerous. However, when there were not much people there, it was very neat in the water park. They did a great job cleaning and collecting dirty towels. Other problems I had was that I sometimes couldn’t find my parents after I got off the rides (I guess it wasn’t their fault). I highly suggest that if you bring many kids with you; keep your eyes on them all the time. Because the water park is huge, if you lost them, it would be very hard to find them. You probably don’t want to stay in the water for your whole stay. You can go to the indoor theme park. There were many attractions you can go, but most of them are tiny. Before I went there, I heard there is a ferries wheel, so I was excited about that. But when I got there, I realized the ferries wheel is quite small. I understand that it is inside, so they couldn’t build it very tall anyway. It was still a good choice for children. I loved the carts, but the track was quite short also. I felt little kids would enjoy more than parents in the theme park. If nothing works out for you, you can still spend your time at the movie theater without going out of the building. Last year when I went there, the theater was crowded too. I wasn’t sure why. The thing I love the most about Kalahari is the African atmosphere that they created in the resort and parks. You can always hear the soft jungle background music while you are walking in the lobby. Even though you wouldn’t enjoy any of the activities there, just spending some times in this environment would make you feel relax and comfortable.

“Name changed to Oceanfront Lodge”
December 16, 2011

I had stayed in this hotel many times since its opening in 2003. Recently when I returned for a regular business trip to Crescent City, I naturally chose to stay at this beautiful oceanfront hotel. I noticed that this hotel had changed its name from Hampton Inn & Suites to Oceanfront Lodge. The same people still worked there. The pool and fitness center were newly renovated and looked much nicer than before. The manager, Mr. Heitchler, told me that the hotel was now independently owned and operated and the owner was spending the money saved from franchise charges on renovation to make a good impression on guests. The hotel now offered three different fruits like watermelon, apple and orange and freshly cooked omlette that you can only enjoy in 5 star hotels. This hotel was much better than when it was Hampton Inn.  I always asked to stay in a room on the third floor because I would love to watch the spectacular ocean waves from my room. The front desk girls always met my request and assigned a room on the third floor to me. They were so nice to me

“Beautiful Location, Experience a Little Lacking”
November 29, 2011

Arenal Kioro is located in an amazing site outside La Fortuna (about 15 minutes by taxi), with the Arenal volcano literally in your backyard. We had a gorgeous room overlooking the grounds and with a spectacular view of the volcano (when the clouds weren't obscuring it... it is a cloud forest after all). The main restaurant was quite nice, a little pricey, but the bar restaurant was just so-so. Two complaints: Kioro prides itself on being an ecolodge, but they have hot tubs that they fill after each guest's stay (which I appreciated hygeinewise) and that they turn on even when we never used it and weren't in the room? Seems a little contradictory. Also, the costs for off-hotel excursions aren't listed in the book, so we were surprised at the end of our stay at how much they were. Our bad for not asking, but it would be something simple to include in their very extensive booklet. But, all in all, a very nice place in the La Fortuna area with views that can't be beat.

“Great place to stay”
November 22, 2011

Hotel staff were very friendly and accomodating.  The room although small was adaquate for a 3 night stayover, the bathroom shower was great.    Was very clean and beds so comfortable. Very well situated to most tourist places. The nightly complimentary cheese and wine was a great feature and gave us chance not only to have a break after a busy day but also to connect with other people from all over the world who were staying there. Would stay here again and recommend it.

October 26, 2011

I gave 4 stars because the rooms have outside entrances. However, there are 2 door locks and a chain for adequate protection. Everything else was just fine. The hotel was renovated in 2009. This property more than met our expectations. Everything was clean, and we watched the World Series on a good tv. Our King bed was huge and had more pillows than we needed. They even provide a fridge, a desk chair, and a lounge chair. More choices than I wanted were provided for the breakfast, and the desk staff was very pleasant and helpful. We stayed at the Senior Rate, which was a lot of bang for our buck. You cannot go wrong staying here! Thank you Best Western.

We were happy with your hotel during our recent stay (Oct. 10 to12, 2011). We would like you to consider doing something about the coldbreakfast area—already cold and aggravated by the opening of the doorssimultaneously (if one door closed before the other one opened that couldhelp). We even said that we would try to stay at another hotel during thewinter because your breakfast area would be uncomfortable. The room (506),however, met all of our requirements (including having a sofa where we couldsit together to watch tv). If the shower had more pressure we would have beenhappier. If there were more fresh fruit at breakfast (such as bananas) we would have been happier still.

Padua is an ancient city. At some point in its long history, Hotel Toscanelli may have been well described as "majestic" and have deserved 4 stars. But that must have been a long time ago. Now, their rooms here are worse than many 2 star hotels. The beds are wiry and far too small. The hot water does not work consistently and neither does the air conditioning. The carpet and old furniture fill the room with a consistent musty smell. Just about the only thing that was four star about this hotel, in fact, was the price. Make the most of your vist to this lovely city. Don't stay in hotel Toscanelli.

The rooms were clean and good sized. The pool is on the ground floor and the whole floor smells like chlorine. I loved it, while my sister felt like throwing up the whole night. Also, the first floor rooms are along the pool and anyone walking by can look in your room if your curtains are open and the noise from the pool is not helpful when you are trying to put a baby to sleep. It literally took me almost 2 hours to order food and then pick it up (a sandwich and cup of soup). The restaurant staff was terrible and the bartender ended up taking my order. The staff was smoking in the stairwell and the other floors has a really strong smell of carpet cleaner. When we arrived we had a ton of bags and no one offered to help, same thing when we loaded up in the shuttle. I would stay there during a layover or one night stay, but not for a vacation.

Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa

400 Cannery Row, Monterey, 93940 CA
September 15, 2011

This was a family trip for us to celebrate my mom's birthday. We were really looking forward to our time in Monterey and were excited to be staying at the Monterey Plaza Hotel. That's why it was so terribly disappointing to have our stay go so badly. Our first night, I have no complaints. Our rooms overlooked the dolphin plaza and out onto Monterey Bay. This is truly and beautiful view and we left our windows open all night so we could listen to the surf and the seals barking. Saturday night was a nightmare. There was a large wedding out on the plaza and we were quite relieved when the noise stopped and the participants moved inside. But that was just the beginning. Once the music started our rooms were turned into a dance club. The noise level was so high that we could here the disc jockey and every song they were playing. I kept calling down to the front desk and they kept promising to contact banquets and get them to reduce the volume but that never happened. As it got closer to 10pm and my calls were getting more irate the front desk switched to "well, the music will stop at 10." The music did stop at 10 but then the participants spilled back out on to the plaza and we were treated to screaming kids and drunks for the next several hours. Now, obviously, you can't blame people for enjoying their wedding and whopping it up. But I do blame the hotel for renting out those rooms over the banquet hall when they knew far in advanced that a wedding was booked directly below. We had such a short time in Monterey and I really feel that the hotel disregarded our concerns and certainly did not provided us with the experience that we payed for. I can't in good conscience recommend that anyone stay here. It's a beautiful building, and a wonderful location but if you're there when there is a party or convention, you're just going to have to live with noise. This hotel doesn't seem to value the individual traveler or family as much as it's banquet and convention business.

Riad Dar Najat

Derb Lalla Chacha 18, Marrakech, 40000
September 11, 2011

I was keen on my second trip to Marrakech to stay at dar najat, a traditional characterful riad; sumptuous, exotic & beautiful. In every way my expectations were exceeded. Olivier, the charming owner spent the last two month lovingly restoring this place to magnificent glory. The interior is exquisite with the most amazing carved wooden doors surrounding the interior courtyard, lush fabrics & cushions, ornately  ceilings & fantastic tiling. These intricate details are all offset against simple dazzling White Walls which blend together harmoniously. Olivier has accessorized with the utmost taste & flair & has succeeded to create an incredible atmosphere of serenity & relaxation. The constant tinkling of water from the Jacuzzi is delightful. Even the lovely ladies that work there go about their work with a sense of calm & tranquility. The en-suite bedrooms are again lush but simply designed, comfortable & air conditioned. The roof terrace is amazing with it's muslin-draped gazebo & cushioned loungers. Olivier is thoroughly charming, amusing, thoughtful & helpful. There are only 7 bedrooms so the service is very intimate. The inclusive breakfast was fresh & delicious & if you wish to eat there Olivier will arrange for his staff to cook for you if you let him know in advance. We were served a selection of salads, two tagines, breads, wine & desert made with seasonal fresh ingredients. This lavish feast was laid out on a table strewn with fresh rose petals & was really sublime. The riad is immaculate throughout & clean beyond belief. My visit to Marrakech was enhanced so much by this lovely accommodation & Olivier’s generous spirit & hospitality. I can't recommend it enough & can't wait to go again.

Crowne Plaza Hotel St Louis Downtown

September 9, 2011

The hotel is in a great location for doing things downtown. Easy walks to many nearby attractions.  On the downside, it was across the street from some dumpsters, so everytime I to and from the hotel there was a horrible smell. The parking is inconvenient in my opinion, it stunk as well. It was a miserably hot week in St. Louis & our room wasn't much cooler. We never got it to the temperature we would have liked. I slept with only a sheet & that was to just have something over me. My biggest complaint about inside our room was the temperature. The accomodations were ok, other than that. For the price & location - not bad. If it weren't close to the attractions I'd say avoid this place.

Marriott Louisville Downtown

280 West Jefferson Street, Louisville, 40202 KY
September 8, 2011

I've lived in Louisville all my life and have dealt with most hotels here either as a musical entertainer, guest and lately as a trip review contributor.  Saturday, Aug 27, my husband and I celebrated an anniversary with a dinner and night at the Marriott. It was an Ironman weekend and the hotel was busy. The first room they assigned us had no air conditioning. Not wanting to wait for maintenance we agreed to stay in a conference room with a Murphy style (pull down) bed. We snuggled in and rented a movie. My husband got up to get the remote and tripped on a protruding part of the frame which couldn't be seen with the covers down and lights low. Later, barefoot, I got up to use the bathroom and ran into the metal protrusion which sliced my big toenail in half. I bled a lot , had extreme pain and lost 3/4 of my big toenail. The next day, I wrote to The Marriott via their website and told them of the incident and the dangers I saw in that bed. Corporate Marriott wrote me the next day saying the local office would contact me in 3-5 days. It's been 12 days now, even after I wrote a second letter attaching a picture of my mangled and painful toe.  I have yet to decide how to pursue this, but I will caution anyone from booking here based upon this experience. God help the person who may suffer a life threatening injury!!

Rough, but almost functional. Ice machine broken during our 3 day stay for Florida's Small Farms Conference. This is closest hotel and photos on website definately don't show the actual condition of the property. Blankets tattered and carpets are very heavily worn out. Furniture is more than used, handles falling off most drawers, burn marks abound. Plumbing worked and so did air conditioning, barely. Would not have thought to write this except for the hitchhiker that apparently came home with us..... I've traveled the country from coast to coast and a bit outside the borders as well and this is my first encounter with bedbugs. I didn't think to look at the mattress and chairs first and until I woke up with dozens of bites a week later I never suspected anything had ridden home in our suitcases. The bites turn into welt like areas and don't go away for several days. They tend to bite several times, dozens, in one area or !in a line. Yuck. Check out your bed before getting into it.

We stayed in the Dominican tower. The room was extremely clean, and was kept very clean by the staff over our 3 night stay. Plenty of dishes and utensils in the full kitchen. Beds were firm and comfortsable. Our kids loved the indoor lazy river. The pool area and pools were immaculate. The Hotel was great and we will return again. I would definitely make sure it was in the Dominican Tower which may have been recently renovated. Easily slept 5. Stay here, you will not be sorry.

This hotel will accept a reservation for a handicapped accessible room saying they cannot guarantee that room type will be available upon your arrival but when you arrive, you will find out there are 7 accessible rooms and each of them will only fit 2 people. There is a king bed only in these room. No sleeper pull out sofa or anything like it. I went with my daughter and friend and had made my reservation for an accessible room, near the elevator. I got a regular room as far away from the elevator as possible. When I was going to pick up my rental car and called the desk to inquire about the lack of handicapped parking available they kept telling me not to worry. Then they were telling me about handicapped spots available on the far side of the hotel. They could not seem to understand that my rental wheelchair did not disassemble and that I would have to walk to my car and that because I am handicapped I cannot walk that far and that their having only one handicapped spot near the front door was problematic as the only elevators were near the front doors. They could not understand that I would have to walk the entire wing of one side of the hotel to the elevator and then walk and entire wing of the hotel. As my frustration grew, they finally agreed to allow me to park my car in the front circle. They did offer to move me to a handicapped room the 2nd day of our stay with an adjoining room but they called at 7 am to have us pack our room up and store everything with them for the entire day until 4 pm when the new rooms would be available. Again, not understanding that being handicapped and in chronic pain, I needed to be able to lay down and rest throughout the day. And calling at 7 am waking us after a very difficult first day, that was the last thing I needed, Then they called again at 9 am with the same offer. I told them we were not moving until they had a room available. So we lost most of our morning at the hotel instead of in Disney messing around with moving rooms (again with chronic disabling pain - not fun). I have never felt disabled until I stayed here. I was injured over 4 years ago. Literally, this is the first time I felt handicapped (and I went to Disneyworld last year for 10 days and never once felt handicapped). The staff was difficult and surly to boot.  They often spent time on their personal cell phones while ignoring guests in line.  Also, we waited a half an hour to check in when we arrived on a Monday night at 7 pm.  There were only 2 people checking guests in but there were three other desk associates who wandered in and out stopping the two who were working to ask them questions.  Then, the two people checking in the long line were answering calls coming in and taking care of those requests before those of use waiting in line.  The hotel is close to Disney but there are others that are close and just as nice if not much much nicer for less. This is not a Hotel...it is a MOtel. This looks and feels like a converted old Red Roof Inn. There are no amenities. The pool is much much too small for a hotel of this size. We never even went to it because it was so overcrowded all the time. And, most people who were paying $9 a night to park were parking their cars far offsite and being shuttled back to the hotel. They are really not on the up and up. Also, they allow cars to part over the handicapped ramps so you cannot exit the property  in a wheelchair easily at all either. I doubt they would pass an ADA audit
