Lahaina is a busy tourist city in West Maui, Hawaii with access to the famous Kaanapali and Kapalua beaches just north the city. After a day at the beach, visitors can tour the Lahaina Jodo Mission. Japanese immigrants have been big part of Hawaii for over a century and this Japanese temple features a 12 foot Buddha brought from Japan. Admission is free. The Lahaina Heritage Museum tells the history of Lahaina and features revolving exhibits, videos and live demonstrations. For golfers, the courses around Lahaini are world class. The Plantation Course at Kapalua hosts the PGA's Hyundai Tournament of Champions during the first week of January each year and offers a spectacular view of the Pacific.
