Best Hotels in Fira

Fira is the capital of the Greek island of Santorini, an Aegean island formed by twelve huge volcanic eruptions spanning hundreds of thousands of years. The crater, or caldera, formed by the volcano's collapse can be seen from atop the still active volcanic rim where Fira is perched. Access to the town is by road on its eastern side, a zig-zagging footpath up the volcanic cliff, or by cable car. Museums in Fira include the Santorini Archeological Museum and the Museum of Prehistoric Thera. The town is a popular romantic getaway and wedding destination with crystal clear waters and picture postcard whitewashed buildings.
