Often referred to as "The Heart of Georgia", Macon is known throughout the South for its musical heritage. Accordingly, one of its prime attractions for visitors is the Georgia Music Hall of Fame, which features exhibits by such well-known and diverse artists as Ray Charles, Usher and the Allman Brothers Band. Fans of the Allman Brothers Band also congregate at the venerable Rose Hill Cemetery, where two members of the band are interred. Macon is also home to the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame. It houses over 7,000 pieces of athletic memorabilia and multiple interactive exhibits. As a National Historic Landmark, the Hay House draws tens of thousands of visitors every year. Built in 1855 as a home, this sprawling 18,000 square foot structure is now a museum.
