Kennesaw, a city in northern Georgia, was picked by Family Circle magazine as one of America's "10 best towns for families." The magazine noted Kennesaw's wide open spaces and suburban appeal. Part of that charm can be found at the Big Shanty Museum, devoted to the history of Kennesaw dating to the time when the area was still known as Big Shanty. It features exhibits and memorabilia including those related to Kennesaw's importance during the Civil War. The Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park expands on this, dedicated to the 1864 battle in Kennesaw that eventually led to the fall of Atlanta. From the top of the mountain in the park visitors can get a bird's eye view of Kennesaw as well as Atlanta and Marietta. For golfers, Kennesaw has a number of courses including the Golf Club At BridgeMill, known for its well maintained greens and fairways, and the nine hole Overlook Course at the Marietta Country Club.
