I am an international humanitarian medical worker (physician) and recently returned from Honduras. My arrival time in Atlanta was too late for a connection to Charlottesville, Virginia, my home. I booked a room at the Renaissance Concourse Hotel and my experience was superb. The shuttle driver was both gracious and helpful, and he cheerfully carried my large suitcase up the steps of the van. I am 65 and healthy, but was weary from the work in Honduras. It was appreciated. The desk attendant was efficient and courteous. I ate at the atrium bar and my server was Esteban Corrales. He was extremely welcoming and polite. Later, when I asked him where was from originally, he informed me that he was from Honduras! I had the spinach salad and the fried green tomatoes with shrimp, and the food was outstanding. The rolls and whipped butter were delicious. The next morning, I again ate on the atrium level, and had grits and the fresh fruit with lemon honey yogurt. The food was again delicious and the portions were enough for two. My server was warm, friendly, and attentive, and made me glad to be back in my native South. As I left the hotel, I dropped off the entry card and got change for the shuttle driver’s gratuity. The woman at the desk was both engaging and efficient, and obviously took pride in her hospitality skills. My shuttle driver on the return to the airport was as polite, welcoming, and helpful as the previous driver. You can rest assured that on future return trips from my work in Honduras, I will stay at the Renaissance Concourse Hotel. Andrew Woods, M.D.
