Treasure Island is a small coastal city in Florida which was settled in 1538 by the Timucua, a Native American tribe that lived in Northeast Florida. Treasure Island got its name in 1915 when several land owners got together and claimed to have found wooden chests on its beach filled with various amounts of treasure. Visitors should take a look at the Treasure Island Beach Trail which is a mile long walkway along its massive beach which provides access to a number of motels and resorts; restaurants and bars. Parasailing and boating is something else vacationers might want to look into as Treasure Island has a number of rental places along its beach front. Dolphin tours is something great for adults and kids alike, where you will be brought out into the ocean to get to swim and play with the dolphins.
