The Bottom Line:
The Tropical Winds Oceanfront Hotel is on the Daytona Beach strip. It is just north of the Speedway. Guests appreciated the mini-kitchens, but found the rooms overall a little small. They did like the small and full size coffee makers. Some rooms have oceanfront balconies with great views. A number of reviewers complained that, while the hotel was clean, there were odd odors in the rooms. Parking is free, but not always sufficient. The hotel has indoor and outdoor pools, but the latter is not heated. Guests liked the on-site cafe for breakfast and lunch. Staff were helpful, particularly with walk-ins and special needs. The hotel offers free wi-fi internet and there is a computer in the lobby.
