The Club Hotel Riu Merengue is located within blocks of the Caribbean Sea in Puerto Plata. The hotel is also a convenient starting point for trips to local attractions, including Ocean World and Paradise Island. Guests appreciated the fully stocked mini bars and variety of dining options. They also loved the direct beach access and daily entertainment. Rooms are clean but uninspired, with tile flooring and rattan furnishings. Note that the hotel lets in a large quantity of local residents on the weekends, as the facilities get extremely overcrowded. The hotel also provides a fitness center and multiple pool facilities.
