The Bottom Line:

The Donovan House hotel is on Thompson Circle, about a ten minute walk from the White House. Nearby eating options include Brasserie Beck and DC Coast, and it is not far from Dupont Circle. Guests describe the decor of the hotel as 'trendy', with swivel chairs and a funky spiral shower (with separate tub), but most appreciated its quirkiness. Rooms also have HDTV, iPod docking stations and leather bed canopies. Bath products are from Kiehl's. The hotel offers free wireless. There is a small rooftop pool, appreciated on hot days, but it closes at 6pm along with the poolside bar. The fitness center was also loved, as were the contemporary magazines provided in the rooms. Service was spotty, but mostly good.
