Tucked along the Pacific Ocean, just north of Los Angeles, lies the city of Santa Barbara, California. This historical city revolves around culture, both old and modern trends. The Santa Barbara Mission dates to 1786; this stunning church is a popular tourist attraction, with a renowned colonial art collection and beautiful outdoor gardens that feature native plants, a cemetery and a fountain. The Carriage Museum displays one of the largest old-style vehicle collections in the entire U.S. Their collection also includes stagecoaches and famous saddles, worn by Cisco Kid, Will Rogers and Jimmy Stewart. Santa Barbara’s breathtaking Spanish-Moorish-style Courthouse dates to 1929. With hand-painted ceilings, murals, imported tiles and iron chandeliers, this building has an ancient feel, which is highlighted by 360-degree views of the ocean, mountains and city. The Waterfront includes a number of beaches, including Leadbetter Beach, West Beach, Chase Palm Park and East Beach. Stearns Wharf is more than 130 years old and features a number of fascinating marine exhibits. Hugging the coastline, the waterfront is home to a number of artists, shops, restaurants and even an outstanding bike trail. With no shortage of activities, Santa Barbara also features the Santa Barbara Zoo, Santa Barbara Museum of Art, El Presidio State Historic Park and the Casa de La Guerra.
