Lying in between the Santa Ynez Mountains and the Pacific Ocean, Santa Barbara is must see for it's pleasing climate, beaches, and history. The Mission Santa Barbara was a Spanish Franciscan mission that is still used today as a place to worship as well as being one of the top places to visit in the area. Families can tour the mission, its gardens and the museum for a look into one of the first missions of the west. Open 9-5 daily there are self guided tours as well as special tours offered by the mission. Every August is the Fiesta, formally known as the Old Spanish Days, in which parties and parades are held all throughout Santa Barbara. One of its most well known attractions is the Flower Girls, which announces the start of the Fiesta and girls ages 13 and below give out flowers to the crowds. Just a few blocks from the beach is the Santa Barbara Zoo, a must for families as there are lots of local and foreign animals, babies and a train that goes around the zoo.
