Best Hotels in San Luis Obispo

San Luis Obispo is one of California's oldest communities and has been called by the writer, explorer and Emmy-winning television producer Dan Buettner the "the happiest city in America". The Nine Sisters hills run through San Luis Obispo, popular with rock climbers and noted for their scenic beauty. Six of the "sisters" are open to the public. Sites within the city include the Madonna Inn, a uniquely styled motel complex with lavish rooms and amenities including a rock waterfall urinal in the man's restroom. The Fremont Theater is a classic Art Deco movie theater from the 1940s that still plays first run movies and Bubblegum Alley is a famous spot where visitors have been sticking their used gum on the walls since the sometime in the late 1950s, although no one is really quite sure.
