A quiet beach city located between San Diego and Los Angeles, San Clemente is a beautiful getaway from the busy cities. The cities slogan, “Spanish Village by the Sea” is exactly that with Spanish colonial architecture, hills and mountain views. With a pier at the end of Avenida Del Mar it is a must see especially during sunset with the light sea breeze. A popular destination that commands attention is former president Richard Nixon's western retreat called La Casa Pacifica. The home was one of the original structures first built in San Clemente, and is now being preserved by the state parks. The small city by the sea is popular for both as a surfing attraction, and as a relaxing getaway.
