Leguna Beach is a California resort community known for its seaside location and thriving artist community. Its dramatic beauty was discovered by landscape painters in the 1920s and today the area hosts a variety of artistic festivals. The Pageant of the Masters is held every summer, an event known for its "living pictures" in which real people mimic classic or contemporary paintings. Other artistic fairs held in Laguna Beach include the Sawdust Art Fair, the Festival of Arts and Art-A-Fair. The Laguna Art Museum focuses mainly on the work of California artists. Eateries in the area include the Beach House, set directly above the ocean, which serves lobster tail, prime rib and pasta. Nightlife hot-spots include the Sandpiper, a casual establishment with live music, and the White House, which attracts twenty-somethings and is bustling on the weekends.
