“We stayedat the Canal St. Sheraton from Feb. 11-13/2012. I noticed a bite on my leg on Feb. 16 - three days after I got home. I am very familiar withbed bug infestations from my profession (retired) and I am certain that the bite was caused by a bed bug and the origin wasthe Sheraton. This hotel is old and cleaning is marginal.The floors were dirty and in dire need of cleaning. Better still, shut it down and upgradethe entire place. It should be shut down bythe health department. I do not recommend this place. ”

“Well, we stayed in this hotel because we were visiting Busch Gardens. The hotel seemed fine, we didn't notice any bugs. However, after arriving home - within a few days my husband starting having funny looking welts on him that I thought was an allergic rash. He went to the doctors near the end of December & they told him to take allergy medicine & gave him a steriod cream. Once my daughters starting getting the same looking rash & then myself I started to get concerned. I took my oldest daughter to the doctor in January & they said to look for bed bugs. As soon as I came home I searched all beds - found nothing. Then I searched my couch fully & found bed bugs. Normally my husband & I fall asleep on the couch versus bed. I don't know where else we would've picked them up at. We normally don't travel. Have there been any reports for this hotel? ”

“Hotel room had bed bugs. This is a nice hotel but BEWARE! I slept on the pull out couch and still got bitten by the bugs along with my family members who actually stayed in the room and slept on the mattress. The staff was alright in handling situation and I ended up getting paid by the HOA (condo privately owned) for my losses & pain/suffering. ”

“On the morning of 12 Feb found a bed bug crawling on my pillow. Went to the front desk and they gave me that night free and moved me and the family to another room. Went to see the sights and came back to the room that evening. My wife checked the bed and found more bed bugs. Went to the front desk and the mangager offered to move us again. The manager was not willing to compinsate my family for our troubles. We ended up moving to another hotel that night at 8:30 pm. ”

“I stayed there 4 nights. First morning, I saw some small brownish stains on my pillows. I figured I must've scratched myself while sleeping. The following morning, I actually saw a bed bug walking away from the pillow. I placed it on a paper, folded the paper to kill it. The bed bug was full with my blood. I also saw a fresh blood stain on the pillow. I brought the paper with the dead bed bug and the blood stains to the front desk. He didn't deny it, but said it was crazy because he had layers of covers on the bed and the pillows. He immediately switched me to another room (404), and there was no bed bug there, thankfully.”

“Bites started showing up following night after checking out. Called front desk the following morning was told someone is already occuping the room. No call back. Sent an email told me they have monthly pest control and maintenance checked the room. I called to see if they had someone do a check for bedbugs they told me if i want the room checked for bedbugs i would have to pay for it. The owner would not get on the phone for him to even tell me this. I could hear him in the background.”

“Found bedbugs in the room, notified management - they were very courteous - said they would notify housekeeping and asked if we wanted to see the nurse... I have some bites on my lower back and we have secured our clothing and luggage in trash bags, bought some bed bug bombs from our local Lowes store and hopefully we will not bring any into our home.. Be very careful, it is not that the hotel was dirty.”

“After returning home for a short stay at the Atherton Hotel is State College PA, over 150 bed bug bites started showning up on my back,arms and hands. I called the hotel and spoke with the manager. She thanked me for reporting my concerns and they had already checked the room. I asked her if they found anything, but she wouldn't tell me anything. She said they don't report their finding. WOW! Shouldn't they tell the public they are infested with bed bugs?”

“Checked in late Thursday night Jan 19th, 2012, checked out the next morning. I didn't see any bugs in the room or on the mattress but a week after staying there I have many bites. This is the only place I have stayed except my home in many months.

Haven't heard from management yet.”

“Siena Suites, building 7, room 7204 has Bed Bugs. My Son and I stayed at the hotel between 10-14 Jan 2012. I found blood spots on my sheets, but didn't recognize the symptoms. Then I started developing red bumps consistent with the photos of Bed Bug bites found on the internet. The bumps began to itch and I found that there were many more bites than I first realized. The bumps presented on my ankles, elbows, knees, abdomen and even my face. I tried to bring my concerns to the housekeeping staff, but found that the young women did not understand standard English. I spoke to her in Spanish, explaining that I believed there were Bed Bugs in the room. She immediately understood and referred me to the office. I spoke to an African-American lady in the office who immediately called the maintenance staff. She specifically asked them to check for "BB's" over the hand held radio. It took them five hours and a call back from me, to acknowledge the Bed Bugs, but did not refund as THEY said they would or return subsequent phone calls. I left multiple messages for Bill, the Manager that I had been directed to call, but two days later I still have no response. I am truly suffering with these Bed Bug bites. As a 58 year old U.S. Army Veteran, I have had many insect bites, but I can testify that these Bed Bug bites are exceptionally difficult to leave alone. I had to dispose of my luggage and disinfect my car (I have no certainty that the BMW is dis-infested). My Wife of 36 years was horrified at the prospect of Bed Bugs entering our home, making me disrobe before coming into the house. We boiled my clothing to kill the Bed Bugs or eggs. I suppose I sound like a "Whiner", but I am literally itching between keystrokes as I write this report. This is NOT a small problem as it has been a real Hassle! My Wife and I have traveled all over the world and have NEVER encountered Bed Bugs even in third world countries. I am appalled that this Hotel would suggest write that they have a clean Hotel; Absolutely Not a True Statement on their part! Write me and I will send you pictures of the bites. Thank you reading about this incident and for operating this site.”

“I stayed at the luxor for the holiday dance classic I was competeting in and the first room I checked into the first thing I found on the bed was a bug on the top of a pillow so we called maintenance and they came and said yes that is one so we got transferred to a new room and i checked i pulled of the sheets and blood stains all on the sheets i was disgusted!!!!!!!:( we got a new room way away from those ones went and pulled up the matress and on the back spring 3 bugs!!!! omg that is nasty wow went to another one and finally got one with no bugs!!!! i am never staying there again”

“2-night stay resulted in 10-15 bites per night. Hope they are able to stem the problem before it gets out of control. I have attached photos of bites from right hip and left hip. I have 5 or 6 similar clusters of bites.”

“This was suppose to a fun family trip to the city. Our Chirstmas gift so to speak. Hotel staff was nice and the room was clean . However when I awoke the next morning I had several bite marks on my hairline and back By the end of the day I had multiple water bumps all over my back chest face torso and groin area. I emailed the hotel Dec 24th and I also called. They did know who i was because the hotel manager said she had read my email and transfered me to hotel security which didnt pick up . I decided to leave my phone number behind. We are lucky in that my 4 yr old son slept on a rollout and my wife had on long pajamas and neither show any signs of being bitten. We put all items we traveled with in the dryer for 30 minutes. Ya Merry Christmas. The gift that this hotel could keep.”

“This place is infested with Bed Bugs. I received over 30 bites and had to throw away my luggage and my clothes. Endured weeks of pain, itching and burning and now have scars from the bites. MGM refused to compensate me for any of it. Absoulte B.S. Please stay away from this dump.”

“On the 10th of December upon waking, I fixed coffee and returned to answer phone, I then sat on the bed and that is when I saw the bugs. They were on the sheet, when I stood up in horror I noticed that I had squashed one. I called downstairs and they sent the maintance crew up and they verified that it was indeed bedbugs. They moved me to another room, however I chose not to stay another night. I wrapped everything in plastic bags and stopped to buy bug bed spray. Before I broght anything into my home I sprayed everything and I also bombed my car with a bed bug bomb and I sprayed myself and still feel unclean. This is something I am not sure you ever get over.
Other than moving me to another room, they offered no compensation, they did not even pay for the sprays I had to buy.”

“Wife and I woke up itchy at 4 am only to turn the light on above the bed and discover a number of bed bug in the pillow case and on the bed.

Management claimed we wouldn't be charged for the room, but the charge is still pending.”

“I've been trying to get in touch with two different people at the hotel, we have not been able to connect on the phone. I've left detailed voice messages, however, about the bed bugs, and the room number, etc.

I didn't notice the bites until the morning of checkout, tried to convince myself they weren't bed bugs but later that night and the next morning, the cluster of bites became inflamed, larger, and you could definitely tell they were bites. I confirmed with other pictures on the internet.

I just want the hotel to know, check the room, and let me know, but no one is trying very hard to get back in touch with me.”

“Stayed night of 12/05/11 - room 137. Was in the room less than 15min before I pulled the top cover back and found a bed bug on the pillow. We informed the front desk, and they stated they would take care of it, but did not seem interested/concerned or surprised. We asked if they wanted to see, get a picture, collect a specimen to hold for an exterminator, but they declined. The hotel did give us a full refund, and did provide us with trash bags to seal our belongings that we had put in the room.”

“We stay at other homewood suites and think they are great-- clean, nothing fancy. We stayed here and had to move hotels. It was noisy and we woke up all night. There was a layer of dust on the drapes that was gross. The non-smoking room stunk of smoke. we were going to move rooms and they let me see a room two floors up. It looked cleaner but when I looked at the mattress to check for bed bug stains, this was present! I've never actually found this when checking. I wouldn't go back here ever. ”

“This place is infested! When my wife and I woke up to bites all over our legs and body, we contacted management who had us change rooms and complete a report.

When we spoke with security, he told us that they have 2 or 3 bedbug complaints every weekend!

We later ran into "Chip" the pest control representative who showed us the bugs from our room.

How can a place like this not get visited by the authorities??”

“Not sure if this hotel is the culprit, but after the fact I had stayed there, I did find a report on another website that indicated bed bugs found at this location. Lo and behold, I now have an infestation in my home. I am so tired and disgusted of fighting these things. I cannot afford an exterminator, and alot of these home remedies are either not working or just slowing down the rate they are multiplying.”

“I stayed Oct 25 and 26 and was treated on Nov. 3 by a dermatologist for bed bug bites.

I would like for someone to immediately call me. I spent $600 for the two nights and now have ongoing dr visits and have to spend money to get my home so that I don't have them here, and can't take the risk that some didn't travel on my clothes and luggage from your hotel.”

“As I sit here with Caladryl on my face, arms, legs, and hands, I regret my whole stay and wish that I had my money and health back. I checked in last Thursday and aside for the basic annoyances of an older hotel, I had no real complaints. But, when I saw the shadow image of a bed bug last night on my iPad on Friday night, the damage was already done. My body was covered with what I thought were mosquito bites the very next morning. Wrong! Now I have over 30 bites on my legs, hands and arms. The gestation period is 8-9 days so I'm right in schedule.

I called the staff to report the issue today. The front desk apologized and asked for my number so that it could be reported to the general manager.”

“I went with wife to a conference at Paris hotel in Vegas. We found bed bugs running around on my pillow when we turned the lights on in the morning when we woke up. There were several dead ones on the mattress that we showed to hotel management. They have moved us to another room on the same floor. I know I wont be able to sleep tonight. I have been feeling itchy but not sure if its because of bug bites. My very first experience with bed bugs. I hope hotel management takes this seriously and cleanup this infestation.”

“I woke up the first morning with one bite & just assumed I had run afoul of a stray mosquito at the Riverwalk restaurant the night before. However, I awoke the next morning with multiple bites on my forearm that definitely had not been there before. I stripped the bedding & found evidence of droppings on the mattress. When I reported the bugs to the management, I was told there had been previous reports but no evidence of bedbugs had been found & I probably just had an allergic reaction to the laundry detergent. Had that been so, I would have had the reaction all over my body, not just on my forearm. I deeply resent having paid nearly $900.00 for three nights, for the privilege of possibly carrying them home with me! No compensation was offered, although I was told the room would be checked after my departure & I would be notified if any problem was found. ”
