“Bedbugs found and reported to manager and health unit in the city. We had bites on our skin and had found 6 actual bed bugs in one of our 5 rooms that our group stayed in. Very stressful and inconvenient to deal now for fear of bringing them home with us. Staff response was somewhat reassuring, moved some people to another room and compenstated for one night.”

“Had bites on both feet after first night. Thought they were mosquito bites. On waking up second day with more bites on legs and arms, became concerned. On the third morning decided it was time to move and asked for a different room. They did move us to a different unit which was smaller than the first room but at least the biting stopped. No compensation was offered by the hotel. ”

“Got settled in for the evening around 11:00 PM and got comfy in bed only to find a bed bug crawling next to me on the headboard. We reported to staff. Security came up, took report, gave incident report number and moved us to a new room. Worried about our stuff being infested and could not sleep in the new room due to having the creeps. Manager the next morning gave us a ridiculous discount of approximately $30.00....this on an over $200.00 stay for one night. ”

“When my friend and I arrived to this hotel everything seemed to be okay, got moved to a couple different rooms because of air conditioning issues. So the last room we went to had bedbugs. I was taking a nap and woke up to see a bedbug crawling on my sheet. I didnt think anything about it until my friend came back and lifted the pillows to see 2 more on the sheets, and another one on the wall. We then moved to another room again! ”

“We stayed there in August 2012. We were relaxing in the room. My daughter had fallen asleep on one of the beds and I saw a bug skitter across the pillow. I grabbed it with a tissue and the squished bug had bright red blood. It looked like a bedbug to me so I called management. They arrived and immediately moved our room to another floor, comped the room for the night and offered to dry clean any of our clothes. They seemed concerned. My daughter did have bites that emerged the next day. Hotel treated the room and advised me that they did not find an “infestation” but that the room had been treated. Advised me to take appropriate steps at home, which I did. Nothing came into my house without being carefully inspected. All clothes were bagged and immediately washed in super hot water. No problem in my house, thankfully. ”

“We woke up in the morning and my boyfriend had bed bug bites all over his arms and shoulder. We looked at the bed and within a few minutes we saw two and left as quickly as possible to get home. We sprayed our luggage and my purse threw away my shoes and are currently washing the laundry for the 2nd time. I've heard they are really hard to get rid of so I'm hoping we did everything right to avoid bringing them in our homes and won't have anymore problems.”

“I awoke on the last day of my stay, found bites on my arm and neck. I showed the bites to the front desk staff member and she did make note of it. I went to my dr a week later because the itching was worse and it was verified the bites to be from bed bugs. I have contacted the hotel, pest control came out and said they found nothing (of course) I have contacted the cooperate office, they sent an email to the hotel and were suppose to contact me within 24-72 hours. Well, that has'nt happened so now I will be contacting my lawyer since it seems that I have brought the critters to my home.”

“I stayed at the comfort inn 3200 w Broad street, Richmond Virginia for a weekend convention at the Richmond coliseum April 5,6,7th. I have stayed here many times before and no big problems at all it need cleaning and upgrades. We found a bug on our bed and report it to the hotel staff on sat morning. They had some one come to the room with us to check it out and the staff say that we may had bed bugs in our room really. They change our room and we are thankful for that but on checking out I told the lady with blond hair Sunday 11 am that in the new room they gave us in the bathroom we had ants around the tolite I think it was just a bad weekend situation for me. I know that this is a big problem all around the world with bugs and things in room but she brush me off by saying we always have our hotel check and inspected and we never have any problems we have high ratings and I feel that she could have just say I'm sorry for the inconvenance and be more concern about the customer, maybe they should have the room half paid or fully paid or something. I got it that she love her job but if customer are not taken care of then you have no one in your hotel. Look I'm not look to be a pain I travel alto and I come to this hotel 2 time a year next time is in September and I would love to just have rooms that I can feel safe to in sleep after a busy day. What if I had my baby in this room and she gotten bitten up that would not be a good thing. What I would like to see is these room be check more often for bugs and carpets clean regularly not just vacuum maybe even upgrades. I know this hotel is a good hotel and If it wasn't I wouldn't stay there 2 time a year that's why I come back. I would want say I hope I can stay again and enjoy a clean and bug free room but please have all room checked for bugs for the safety of all hotel guest and make sure staff are cleaning room correctly and train correctly. I do check my room all the time to make sure the room is clean i always check under the bed they don't clean but and in the draws but thanks for listening to me even if nothing will be done.”

“My daughter woke up in the morning with itchy bites all over the tops of her feet and ankles.... I checked the image online, ...they are bedbug bites. When I told the management of the hotel, they said they have never had a report. I went online and found out this is not true, there have been other reports of bedbugs at the Tucson Hilton El Conquistador Resort. In addition they were extremely defensive about the report. My other daughter shared the bed and had bites on her torso.”

“Unfortunately, I forgot our room number. I wrote a letter to the manager about our dirty floor. It is visible that you can see it right away as soon as you enter the room.
My sister cleaned the floor after an employee came and cleaned it. She used the hotel white towel and it became brown to black in color. My sister acquired over 50 bites of bed bug bites. We didnt realized its even bed bugs bite. We thought its an allergic reaction to their lotion. I didnt get bitten much because we have 2 separate beds. Hoping this will help the future tourist in choosing this hotel.”

“We stayed 2 nights out of a booked 7 at the metropolitan express. We woke up with bites and then found a live adult bug crawling on the wooden bed head.
This bug was then produced to staff at the front desk as we processed to check out early.
I am disgusted in the hotel. I appreciate it is a lower budget property, but it is absolutely no excuse and is unacceptable.”

“Our party of 3 families traveling together had just settled in when (especially the children were affected by BEDBUGS crawling on them.We dressed and complained to the night clerk who offered us another room, but we guessed the entire hotel might be infected, so we left in the middle of the night. No compensation was offered,and since I had reserved all 3 rooms on my credit card, I do not feel obligated to pay for rooms we could not use.”

“Woke up around 2:45 am to daughter itching with welts on face and hand. We bagged up two live bedbugs from each of our beds. Front desk offered no refund and claimed to have no other rooms. I had to pry a voucher out from them for another Motel 6 down the road that I was going to book for 5 dollars less.”

“The room was unlocked when we arrived, dirty room including the bed and floor. I was sitting on the bed and seen a bedbug crawling right underneath the sheet. I got transferred to another room but would never stay at that dirty place again. Terrible service and way overpriced.”

“Woke up with bites on my ears, wrists, arms, waist, legs, toes, and head. I went to the front desk and asked to speak to a manager, they in turn sent out the GM. He told me it was probably an allergic reaction to the soap they use to wash the sheets. I'm showing him the bites and he's still saying it's an allergic reaction. He takes my number and has the room inspected. He called to confirm it was bed bugs and apologized. He refunded my money and offered a 2 night stay if I wanted to come back. He said the hotel was renovated in 2012 and this is the 2nd case since then. ”

“Bed bugs in 309, obvious smell of treatments in all room, dirty mattresses and bed frames with bed bug excrement and blood stains on mattress sides and saw living bed bug in room 308. This entire place is probably affected because hotel management's "solution" to the problem was switching out rooms. Uh no thanks. Demand a refund.”

“We stayed there almost a year ago and are still paying for it. While the property and the access to the river was great, the bed bugs were not. I was covered in bites! They appeared in clusters all over my body and I was very swollen and itchy. My husband also had bites all over his body. When we got home we compared the bites to those on the internet and unfortunately found that they resembled bedbug bite in the way that they looked and by the way they were clustered. We called the hotel, but they did not seem to care to talk to us and just denied the possibility of bedbugs. While I would like to think that it was true, it is hard to dispute the thousands of dollars we have spent on getting rid of them in our house since we brought them home too. We are busy people and we never go anywhere, so we could not have picked this up from another hotel. We have lived in Florida / Georgia our whole lives, we know what mosquito, gnat and other bites look like. And as a physician, I know what rashes look like too. I am not mistaken, we acquired bed bugs from this hotel. ”

“My roomate was bitten by a bed bug on the morning of March 16, 2013. I couldn't find any others but my headboard did have the tell tale fecal spots from bed bugs. Staff showed little sympathy and gave us no compensation.”

“We stayed there for three days- it felt like I was getting bitten, but thought it must have been sand fleas or something that was some coastal something. I am covered. Will never stay there again. They were very casual when I called to tell them - please be cautious. The doctor confirmed today that they are bed bugs. I'm miserable and have a pest controller coming to our house tomorrow to inspect our home - I hope they didn't come home with us.”

“I stayed at the Ramada on March 15th and was supposed to be there through the 17th but left the first night. I woke up feeling very itchy around midnight and saw the bugs crawling across the sheets. From what I can find online they were fairly mature because they were easily seen. I trapped a few in a plastic bag and called the front desk to inform the staff. They did not sound concerned and simply offered to move us to a different room. We told them that we would not be staying and they agreed to refund our money for the stay, and that was all. I have taken steps to make sure they didn't come home with me but I cant get rid of the clothes because they are work uniforms I cant replace. I hope this will turn out alright for me but I worry about people who stay there that don't know what is on their beds. The worst part is that as we were leaving we heard him tell the group in front of us he couldn't extend their stay another night because they were booked full the next two nigths. Do not stay here!”

“I didn't realize it was bedbugs until I got home. Plus, the bedbugs must have traveled in our luggage because now I have an infestation at home.”

“I had no idea there was an infestation when I stayed at the hotel.... However, a trip to my GP and a Dermatologist confirmed bed bug bites... After extensive reading I finally found confirmation that the reaction to the bites can occur 10-14 days after the exposure. Thus, it had to be the Mark Twain.. I hadn't been anywhere else except my own bed. I did contact the Manager and he took my information and was pleasant. You can be sure I will research before my next hotel stay and take my travel size bed bug spray!

Nothing conclusive but "process of elimination" points to having my first bed bug experience from a night at the Hotel Mark Twain. ”

“Found a bed bug on the decorative pillow. Security came and got it. We had to move rooms to another hotel at 11 pm. We returned the next day. I have checked everything. Needless to say I received a call today from corporate saying it wasn't a bedbug. But trust me, it matched the picture on the Internet exactly. Management was however, very responsive so kudos to them for reacting so quickly. ”
