Gulf Shore is a coastal resort area in Alabama with a large beach area known for its quartz sand, soft on the feet. The Beach Club Gulf Shores Spa is a luxury resort adjacent to the beach and features condos and spa facilities. The Gulf State Park is a smaller two story lodge area set off on a quieter section of the beach. The park itself has wooded trails for hiking and covers 6,150 acres. For history buffs, Fort Morgan in Gulf Shore, was the historic military fortification dedicated to the defense of the Gulf shores as far back as the War of 1812. The museum is open year round.
